Purple Armband Convenors

What is a Purple Armband Convenor?
A Purple Armband (PA) Convenor is an organisation that convenes Purple Armband Games on behalf of sports communities under their jurisdiction or in their region or local area. What’s involved in being a PA Convenor?
PA Convenors are encouraged to own their Purple Armband Games and to participate at a level that best suits their time, resources and expertise.

At minimum, PA Convenors:

  • invite local clubs/teams to participate;
  • organise and disseminate the purple armbands; and
  • as a courtesy, notify the PAG website manager of their intention to organise Purple Armband Games.

PA Convenors may also choose to:

  • promote their Purple Armband Games locally (e.g. a local press release);
  • invite input or participation by their local sexual assault referral or domestic violence service;
  • use Purple Armband Games as a fund-raiser for local initiatives related to the meanings of the purple armband;
  • invite local sponsors and other community members to become involved;
  • promote or trial new initiatives related to the purple armbands.

All PA Convenors and participants are encouraged to send in:

  • digital photos to post in the Gallery
  • story links for the News section;
  • lists of participating teams to post on-line.
